Affiliate link - how it works and tricks for more clicks

What is an affiliate link and how does it work?

An affiliate link is a unique URL you receive after creating your referral with AdScout. When a user clicks on your link and makes a purchase, you earn a commission.

An AdScout affiliate link typically consists of:

- http://www.example.com - Partner's URL;
- /?sRef=RecommendationID – Identifying code/number for your referral.

Here's how it works:

- The link contains a special tracking code that identifies you as the creator of the referral. When a user clicks on the link, a tracking cookie is stored in their browser.
- If the user makes a purchase within the cookie’s timeframe, you earn a commission. (More about cookies below.)

AdScout does not alter the partner’s links, it only adds a unique parameter to ensure smooth tracking of the created referral.

Cookies: How They Help You Earn

To ensure accurate tracking, affiliate platforms use cookies to track sales. These cookies confirm that the purchase was made through your link, allowing you to receive your commission.

Key things you should know about cookies:

- Cookies track sales and confirm affiliate commissions.
- They do NOT store personal information or payment details.
- On standard affiliate platforms, cookies typically expire within 7 to 30 days.

AdScout partners offer a cookie validity period of 15 to 30 days, so you still receive a commission even if the user completes the purchase later.

You can view cookie activity for all our partners on their pages on the AdScout website. [For example: ZORA online store]

Strategic Places to Share Affiliate Links for Better Results

- Instagram: Add the link in your bio (“🚀 See here 👉 [link]”) or use the “Link” sticker in your story and include a CTA in your post (“Don’t miss the offer”). Post and direct your audience to your bio or story to open the link.

- Facebook: Share in groups as a helpful recommendation, place the link in comments, and use engaging phrases (“Only today -20%! Link here 👇”).

- YouTube: Place the link in the video description, pin it in the first comment, and use engaging Shorts with a CTA (“The product everyone asks me about 👉 [link]”).

- Blogs: Embed the affiliate link directly in the text or hide it behind an ad banner in the blog post.

Tricks to Engage Your Audience and Get More Clicks

- Motivate them to act quickly: “The link will be available for only 2 hours – grab the offer now 👉 [link]”.

- Add emotions and emojis:“I can’t believe it! 😱 Check out the promotion 👉 [link]”.

- Pin links in comments: The first comment on TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook is a strategic place to place links for better visibility.

- Do product demonstrations: A video showing real use of the product increases trust.
